Fighting Fear and Anxiety With Scripture

Fighting Fear and Anxiety With Scripture

Last year, was a time of tremendous growth for me. Growth is good, but it’s also difficult. It was brought to my attention by a sister in the faith that I had allowed a spirit of fear to control my life and thoughts. That spirit of fear was isolating me. It wasn’t allowing me to connect or go deeper in relationships. I felt alone because of fear. I wanted to close myself off from others, because I didn’t want to be hurt.

Experiencing anxiety on a daily basis will isolate you and exhaust you. It drains you and leaves your soul dry.

We don’t have to let fear overtake us, though. We do have the choice to tell fear “not today!” Of course that makes it seem simple, but when fear has been thriving in your life for so long, it can feel really uncomfortable to fight it. It takes repeating “not today” every single day. It takes learning what works for you. It takes time and fighting the small battles. But we can do all things through faith!

You are much stronger than you know. There is so much potential Yah has placed inside each and every one of us. It takes time to tap into it, but it’s there. We each have a purpose. Fear distracts us from that purpose.

So for the days that are tough:

I am memorizing these verses and I encourage you to do so as well. That way, when temptation to succumb to fear arises, I will know exactly what the scriptures say. Meditate on these words and speak them out loud. Tell fear “not today!”.

“For Elohim has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:7

“Elohim is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

Psalm 46:1

“Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the YHWH is kept safe.”

Proverbs 29:25

The angel of the YHWH encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.

Psalm 34:7

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.

Psalm 34:4

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”

Psalm 91:1

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18

Cast your cares on the YHWH and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.

Psalm 55:22

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

Psalm 56:3

Because he loves me, I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.”

Psalm 91:14
